Launching of Lumix GF2, TZ20 and other models in Kuala Lumpur

Sepang, 8 March 2011 -- Panasonic Malaysia unveiled a brand new line-up of LUMIX digital cameras today, strengthening its position as innovators in digital imaging and further positioning itself to capture the market in 2011. With 12 new models and various cutting-edge features, the new LUMIX line-up carries an ideal imaging companion for everyone. "The new LUMIX range is our answer to the escalating demands of the digital camera market. Aside from the importance of excellent picture quality, we recognize that taking a picture today goes hand-in-hand with sharing and communicating. Therefore, these new models are engineered to enhance the point-and-shoot experience, while complementing the lives of modern individuals," said Jeff Lee, Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia. Stealing the limelight at the official launch was the LUMIX DMC-TZ20, which replaces its predecessor, the bestselling DMC-TZ10. The DMC-TZ20, which boasts a 14.1 megapixel sensor, ultra-wide-angle Leica lens and 16x optical zoom, also supports Full HD Movie Recording at 1080p. Made to compliment the avid traveller, the DMC-TZ20 is touch-operated and comes with GPS functionality to enable geo-tagging while on the go. Panasonic Malaysia will be looking at these new models, together with the recently introduced LUMIX DMC-GF2 and the widely popular LUMIX DMC-LX5 to increase its share in the digital camera market. The DMC-GF2, which was launched in December last year, is the world's smallest and lightest system camera with a built-in flash; with Full HD Movie Recording in AVCHD format. To top it off, the DMC-GF2 is also touch-operated via a 3.0 inch LCD screen.On the other hand, the premium compact DMC-LX5, which replaced the acclaimed DMC-LX3, has earned the recognition of both professional and amateur photographers as one of the most groundbreaking digital point-and-shoots in the market. The DMC-LX5 sports a Leica F2.0 lens and supports HD Movie Recording in AVCHD Lite format, making it ideal for creative photography."Since its inception in 2002, the LUMIX brand has brought many innovations to the world of digital imaging. The LX5 and the GF2 are examples of this innovation in their own rights, and together with this new LUMIX line-up, we are set to capture the market in 2011," added Jeff Lee.Also unveiled at the launch were the new Panasonic Full HD and Standard Definition Camcorders.
